Hard to grow species? No problem.

Cultivated in a controlled environment, our Quart size biodegradable paper pots are grown to give you a longer planting window of 9 to 12 months versus the 4 to 6 months of a bare root product. The controlled environment also allows for production of “hard to find” species, along with “custom grows” that require specific species and seed provenance. Biodegradable paper pots also offer reduced transplant stress compared to a bare root plant.

What Is a Paper Pot?

Our paper pots match our Premium Bare Root Seedlings in size (1 Qt) and growth. The difference is that they’re grown in biodegradable paper pots, 80mm in diameter.

How Do Paper Pots Help?

Many species are sensitive to moisture and struggle in solid-walled tray cells. Paired with RediRoot aeration trays, our paper pots grow premium roots that don’t circle — instead they “air prune,” pushing out more primary roots for a nearly 100% transplant success rate.

It’s all about the roots.

Why Paper Pots?

A few reasons paper pots may be the best choice for your project:

  • A 9–12 month planting window, versus 4–6 months for bare root
  • Plant with the paper — it breaks down in weeks, with no plastic waste
  • Controlled propagation for “hard to find” species
  • Ideal conditions for vigorous, healthy plants
  • Reduced transplant stress compared to bare root
  • Easy “custom grows” for specific species and provenance
